Highway 197 in Mt. Airy.

Georgia Mountains Christian Academy exists to help parents prepare their children spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
History:
Georgia Mountains Christian Academy is a board-run, community Christian academy which serves six counties in the North Georgia area. It was founded in 1981 by two businessmen, Hal Woods and Harry Hilliard, in conjunction with Central Heights Baptist Church. The school initially began as a preschool and expanded over the years to include education through the twelfth grade. In 1997, the high school received accreditation from the Georgia Accrediting Commission. In 2005, the school was accredited in all grades from first through twelfth. In 2007, the school moved from under the church’s oversight to that of an independent Board and the name was changed from Central Heights Christian School to Georgia Mountains Christian Academy. The Board decided to restructure the academy to accommodate students K-3 through 9th grade. The high school is in the process of being rebuilt each year as an additional grade is added. This process will end the 2011-2012 school year when the 12th grade will be completed. GMCA renewed its accreditation in 2008 with the Georgia Accrediting Commission for five more years. |
